Travel

Traveling to...

We are finally here after surviving a 36 hour flight itinerary.  The trip over here was challenging at times with the children, but I have to say Singapore Airlines did an awesome job making us all as comfortable as could be while traveling with them.  While settling in for a very long flight, we were given lots of blankets, pillows and socks for when our feet get cold.  The children were given coloring activity books and a few small toys to keep them entertained. And we all got headphones to listen to our choice of movies, t.v. shows, or music.  After we had been the the air a few minutes, the flight attendants handed out white hot wash cloths to cleanse our faces and hands and prepared us for dinner (I always looked forward to the hot cloths before meals as it was the only real washing we did over three days).  I love that they bring the kids meals about 10 minutes before the adults' meals.  They always take longer to eat and it drives them crazy if they are hungry and see everyone else getting their food first. Singapore Airlines definitely know kids!   The flight attendants were so extremely sweet and patient with us. The service was second to none I have ever experienced on an airline.  Also, they are all GORGEOUS!  They all wear beautiful long sarong uniforms and their hair and make-up is immaculate at all times.

Before arriving in Jakarta, we had a 9 hour layover at Changi Airport in Singapore. And WOW, Changi Airport is BEAUTIFUL! I never could have imagined saying that about an airport before but it is so true.  First of all Changi is impeccably clean. Even the bathrooms are spotless. Their motto is "The Feeling is First Class" and they are not kidding.  They have been named the best airport in the world by Wanderlust, UltraTravel Magazine, and Business Travel Middle East. And touts itself as not only for passenger travel but an entertainment destination as well.  There are indoor traditional and inflatable playgrounds, world's biggest airport slide, many beautiful plant and butterfly gardens, lounge areas with t.v., free internet and wifi, beautiful multi-faith prayer and meditation rooms, tons of retail shopping and much much more.
